Linda began making cakes about ten years ago so that she could make her oldest daughter’s wedding cake.  She was hooked, and started making cakes for special occasions for friends and family.  As her daughter’s friends got married, Linda expanded her business.  She became particularly interested in using fondant and in making gum paste flowers so she took several classes with Nicholas Lodge, learning how to do great work in gum paste.  Linda was a school teacher for several years but stopped about 7 years ago to devote full time to cake decorating.   At present she makes only wedding cakes, much to the disappointment of many mothers in her area, but is about to expand and include other specialty cakes.  Linda became interested in electronic cutters  while on a trip in late 2008 and invented a method to use the Silhouette or any other electronic paper cutting machine to cut beautiful, intricate decorations from gum paste or icing sheets.  The Creative Designs method she invented is patent pending.  Her techniques enable even the non-artist to create one-of-a-kind cakes that are truly special.  She is constantly working on new ideas and has a couple of new techniques to demonstrate.   She and her husband Jeff are about to open The Bakery Cottage in Vidalia, LA.
