Degree Requirements

SUGAR ARTS INSTITUTE:

The Sugar Arts Institute is a non-profit educational institute providing worldwide, standardized and recognized qualifications in Cake Decorating and Sugar Arts from Certificate, to Diploma, Associates, Bachelors and Masters degrees in Sugar Arts.

Cake Decorating and Sugar Arts is a career in itself.  SAI focuses specifically on  all the different facets of cake decorating and sugar arts for anyone who wishes to choose this creative and edible-art as a career, cottage industry business, or hobby.

Those wishing to take the certification examinations must complete the required courses to obtain the required credits for each level, prior to making application for the certification examination.

Credits may be awarded and/or transferred for prior classes completed, years of practical experience, and art college subjects.

  • 1. A High-School Graduation Certificate, or equal qualification.
  • Hygiene/Serve-Safe certificate (must be provided before application for the annual certification examinations.)
  • 2. Resume. 
  • 3. If applicable, any/all details of prior cake decorating/sugar arts classes taken. 
  • 4. Certified Copies of Certificates and Achievement awards.
  • 5. Mandatory Pre-class Assessment, which must be completed on-line 7-14 days prior to class commencement.  Late submissions will not be accepted.
  • 6. Required tools or tool kits.
  • 7. Student chef uniforms must be worn during class.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATION COURSES for Certificate in Sugar Arts: Level 1

Courses may be taken in any order with the exception of Buttercream BC101, which must be completed prior to taking any rolled fondant/sugar paste related subjects.
